The Intel graphics version of this laptop works fine. You need the proprietary NVIDIA drivers if you have that graphics chip in your laptop. See the guides on this site for installation details.
The Toshiba Tecra M11 works just fine with Linux.

Fringerprint reader is not detected by fprint
