Discussion
Arch64, Slackware and Slackware64 works well, only bug that I have encountered with both is when I shut down, sometimes I need to pull the battery out before the laptop will start up again.
I have the 7741G i5-450 running without problem with 'out of the box' ubuntu 10.10 amd64 version (as recommended on the ubuntu website for intel i5 !!).
WiFi works ok
No problems found so far.
Overall seems much quicker in operation than running the pre-installed Windows 7 OS.
I've setup to dual boot either OS.
my wifi doesnt work my friend. how did you fix this? ubuntu i used
I use Slackware64 13.1 and all the hardware works out of the box.
I use it since 4 days and im happy with it.
one hint: to use the ethernet card you have to unload the tg3 module, load the broadcom module and reload the tg3 again.
Trying to get the wireless configured on the Acer 7741G.
anyone do this successfully?
remove that wifi card and install a Intel 7260, can get it from ebay for about $10, it will add Bluetooth also. Make sure you download the drivers before hand.
