All of the above worked from a new install of ubuntu 9.10 64 bit.
The laptop came with a 2GB DDR3 and a
DVD writer which also works well.Could not test Ethernet or card reader as these are not available to me yet. Linux on the Acer Extensa 5635 here.

Works well with ubuntu 9.10 64 bit recomended.

Goodbye my friend! I aspiration to clear that this article is awesome, polite taking place article and comprise approximately all one essential infos. I’d equal to decide mega posts equal this.

Fedora 13 seems to work quite well on the 5635.

Bluetooth might need a little tweaking, and I didn't test the Ethernet, but everything else is peachy!

A Windows 7 / Fedora 13 dual boot system is a snap. Just use Windows 'Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management' applet to delete your hard disk's data partition D:. Then you just install Fedora 13 into the recently freed disk space. Easy!

Nah, forget Fedora 13. Ubuntu 9.04 works fabulously! Some of the less demanding screensavers will have you thinking that the 5635's budget Intel graphics have gone high-end!

Use manual partitioning during an install, as Ubuntu 9.04 doesn't seem to recognise a Windows 7 partition and might overwrite it by mistake.

the Graphics don't work on ubuntu 10.4.
that a big problem…
can anyone help me?
what's to do?

I can't Understand that the possessor is 32bit (intel) but you install Ubuntu 64 bit ?
please help me because I tried to install Ubuntu 9.10 in my Acer extensa 5635 but as the prossessor in intel I chosed “PC (Intel x86) desktop CD”, and in installation the sceern goes black and it faild (I think the installation ran in background I also herd the voice of audio driver) so please help me if I mistake and if I should download “64-bit PC (AMD64) desktop CD”?

Or any suggestion to have a clean installation of Ubuntu 9.10 in my laptop.

So thanks,

sorry for troubling you but finally the wireless is working after
adding acpi=off to kernel boot parameters

zazuge, 2010/04/20 21:09

for ethernet you need atl1c module
insmod atl1c.ko
or install the latest kernel
(ubuntu 9.10 CD kenel doesn't detect the ethernet but with the upgraded it works )
but still the wireless didn't work for me
iwlist wlan0 scan show AP
but the device can't connect
“wlan0: disassociating by local choice (reason=3)”
