Tested on Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid), everything seemed to work out of the box, except those components that I didn't test (Express card slot, Modem and card reader). Integrated Mic works out-of-the-box but needs a little boost inside alsa mixer.
Highly satisfied with Linux performance on this laptop. Go with proprietary graphic drivers for full Compiz support.
Discussion
Dear Leo Bevanda,
I own the exact same notebook as this one: 7730G. Ive installed ubuntu 9.10 and i have a little problem when trying to commute the sound from internal speakers to headphones connected to the output jack. The OS comes with alsa 1.0.20 and upgraded to .21 changed my sound card from a stereo + hdmi to a 5.1 +hdmi. Lots of choises but whatever i do, no sound in headphones. The hardware works in win7 so the problem lies within ubuntu and alsa. Can u please advise me what to do? Thank you!
I'm using Fedora 11 (64bit) on the same laptop and I have just a little (but annoying) problem: while speakers work well, I hear a continuous rumor from headphones instead of sounds.
