Video card drivers compatible with the latest Ubuntu versions here. Color depth is still low. Webcam is upside down and with strange colors.
Ethernet works only passing pci=nomsi as boot option.
If you want to purchase a laptop for linux don't buy this.
Thanks to all the people above for helping me to find a way on this pc.
i have solved all the problems !!! as soon as possible i will explain how to do it..
Cheers
I solved the problem with wired network. In new linux distribution You must disabled PCI-MSI . Add “pci=nomsi” to Your grub line and use default kernel module r8169. Tested on ubuntu 10.04 x64.
Graphics works with sis driver. But wired lan …. still nothing.. maybe smb?! This network card work on RedFlag Linux 6.2 (old kernel and old network driver r8168-8.009.00). But You cant compile it on new kernel with new headers… I think this is problem with rev01 (first version of network card rtl8168).
Please tell me, which sis driver are you using and what resolution do you have. And does the external screen works.
I have ubuntu netbook on my asus k50c.are there any solution for webcam and LAN?
Video driver with 1360×768 support (sources included, you can tune it to give 1366) http://tpurch-blog.blogspot.com/2010/05/sis67x-driver-for-ubuntu-1004.html . However it seems that color depth is a bit low. But who cares, you have full screen now.
1. Follow these steps
2. Log in
3. If your screen appears to be “broken” when you log in and you can hear audio press FN + F8.
This notebook is not so bad but I expected something better.
I installed WinXP and drivers coming with the K50C just to test it and everything works.
However I use it mainly with Ubuntu 9.10, and these are my results:
I am still fighting with this crappy video card : Read here
