Laptop was tested with Ubuntu 10.04.
The K52Jc uses the NVIDIA Optimus which is not supported in Ubuntu 10.04. If you attempt to install the NVIDIA drivers all you will get is a blank screen. No solution yet.
The graphics problem means the Asus K52Jc is a poor choice for Linux for now. Hopefully this will be fixed in Ubuntu 10.10 (and other newer Linux distributions).
Discussion
This laptop works fine under ubuntu 11.10, to get graphic card working u have to install “IRONHIDE” to get it working properly. just type ironhide ppa in google and u will find it. If u are doing a dual boot, make sure u flash ur bios with the latest update, as a blue screen will come up everytime u try to boot up another OS. DO NOT SET THE BIOS SETING TO OTHER!. it wont work, just install ironhide it it should work. NOTE: u have to type in “optirun” followed by program name to use graphic card.
Linux Mint [lucid lynx based] installed OK - though I foolishly let grub2 install to the MBR. Don't do these things late at night. You need to enter BIOS, and set the video from `win7/vista] to `other' or `reserved' [depending on the option offered].
