Unfortunately the suspend/resume functionality of this laptop doesn't work.
Summary
The Asus K52JU is let down by the issue with suspend/resume. Other than that the laptop is fairly good with Linux.
Discussion
Hi, I have got an Asus K52JU and I recent installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS with Gnome 3 desktop. Actually everything works pretty well, and I have found different solutions for most basic things like the suspend/hibernating function. If you need something that I can help you with, let me know here :)
Haven't got time, and I have been using it just for a month.
I have run Fedora 15 and Ubuntu 11.04. Processor, screen, HDD, Graphics, Wireless, USB and Webcam are OK. Can't say about the rest.
Something important is failing: I can't suspend or hibernate it. I think there is a solution, I'm trying it out: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=99238
