Fedora destroys UEFI on this notebook ⇒ use other distro.

You can use 740M with nvidia blob + bbswitch + bumblebee

Yuri, 2014/01/10 14:03

Yep, bumblebee+nvidia331 from xorg edgers ppa worked fine.

Sometimes I still have some issues with CPU fan - it changes rpm like this: low, high, low, high.

To stop this I would typically need to power off / on or suspend

The general advice - if you need a laptop and you need a Linux to be installed there, try getting one with Linux pre-installed :)

Yuri, 2013/08/30 02:06

At the moment of post, I was not able to make discrete video nvidia GT740M working on this laptop. Repos does not have driver supporting it installed.

Although nvidia website says linux drivers have support of GT740M since May 2013, installing them would fail with an error saying that device is not supported.

I assume some additional time will be needed for this situation to change.
