Notes

Tested on:

  • UBUNTU 12.10 64 Bits
  • Linux Mint 15

Dual boot

It was necessary to use the Boot Repair to enable dual boot with preinstalled Windows 8.

nVidia Optimus

To enable nVidia Optimus technology install Bumblebee.

Summary

The Asus S46CM works really well with Linux. Battery consumption is even slightly better (lower) than in the pre-installed Windows 8.

I've recently try Ubuntu 13 x64. The laptop strongly heats up, maybe becouse of problem whith nVidia drivers.

Good morning;
I have recently try Ubuntu 12.10 64 Bits on my Asus S46CM and i remark that the Fn+F6 to setting lignt on screen dosen't work, and nVidia Graphique Card dosn't work on it.

Too, the problem to install it with Win8 secure boot.
