Notes

You have to add “noapic” boot option. It will disable hibernation, but some kind of “sleep mode” still exists.

Summary

Despite boot problem, the Asus U43SD works quite well with Linux.

Test with Linux Mint 13 Maya (Kernel: Linux 3.8.0-29-generic (x86_64)). Works with “noapic” boot option.

Test with Ubuntu v.10.10 (x86 and amd64), Ubuntu v.10.04 (x86 and amd64), Kubuntu v.10.10 (x86 and amd64) and Debian v.6.0.3 (x86 and amd64). All are they are not working on tis laptop.

Test this laptop with openSUSE-11.4-x86_64, Mandriva.2011.RC2.x86_64.2 & Fedora Core 15 x64. All they are not work on this laptop.
