Most of these components are known to be compatible for use with various mainstream 'nix variants, however the >touchscreen remains a big question as to how painful it is to get running. I have ordered an s550cm-cj098 and will >install Archlinux and Xubuntu to test hardware, and especially touchscreen compatibility as soon as it gets here.
I will add the experience and the problematic steps I have run into back here as soon as I'm done.

Installed Ubuntu 13.10. Touchscreen works perfectly. Sound seems fine, as well as internal mic. Haven't tried webcam yet. However, the combo jack (headphone and mic jack) doesn't work. I've tried plugging headphone/mic and a headphone in, but there's no audio coming through the headphones. I've tried fixing alsa as well, but it's not working so far.
