Hello Rafal,

I have no problems with Ethernet in Ubuntu 12.10, nor with the Wifi. I've never used Fedora 18, but with what you said I think you might have a problem with your Ethernet card, may be the driver, and the Ethernet card may not be reconnized. I've found a topic that could help:http://www.ehow.com/how_8360582_enable-disable-ethernet-card-linux.html

And this one too, specifically for Fedora: http://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/Fedora/12/html/Deployment_Guide/s1-network-config-ethernet.html

I was able to install Fedora 18, Ethernet is not working, only WiFi, but even so I need to connect to unsecured network cause it is loosing connection to protected wifi. Overall internet is very slow, sometimes 30Kb, when on the real speed is 20Mbp (checked with other laptop and phone).
Grandjean, do not you have any problems with interent?

Thanks,
Rafal

I have installed Linux Ubuntu 12.10. My laptop is an F55U precisely, but is recognized as a X55U in the terminal. So, it works, but I have had some problems with the brightness. For details, you can go to this topic:http://forum.ubuntu-fr.org/viewtopic.php?pid=12933631.In french sorry. I can change the brightness of the screen but only with the code:
xrandr –output LVDS –brightness 0.5
The other problem is still a graphic problem: i can't use the Ati/amd drivers for my graphics card, only the free drivers work. Sometimes, these ones bug, not often fortunatly. Otherwise, everything is working fine.
To summarize, there are only graphical problems with an installation of Ubuntu 12.10 in my laptop X55U-F55U.

I can install xubuntu 12.04 , but only with wifi.
