Dell Latitude 2100

Introduction

This is a compatibility guide to running Linux with the Dell Latitude 2100 laptop.

This page is just for discussing using Linux on the Dell Latitude 2100. For a general discussion about this laptop you can visit the Dell Latitude 2100 page on LapWik.

Eliots Experience

I recently purchased this netbook, and before even booting the default windows vista home edition, I plugged in a bootable Arch usb flashdrive, and installed a new dual boot!

About this netbook: (In my experience)
It's quick, preatty, and customizable.
I purchased it online from dell, and obtained the model w/ Touchscreen LCD, and webcam, as well as the Intel iw5100 wifi chipset.

I litteraly “perfected” my installation in under five hours!

The touchscreen is fully compatible using “evtouch” (Located on the AUR for archlinux. I also have heard it is in the package manager for Ubuntu, as well as OpenSuse).

I used the “snd_hda_intel” module with ALSA, and sound works (Remember to add your user to the audio groups).

The intel iw5100, is my favorite chipset(it's in all my laptops) because many nice people have it, and help you along setting it up.

I unfortunatly don't have the best formating for this wiki (which is why I only stole this tiny space ;3). So mail me at trollhard@gmail.com if you need any help setting your Dell Latitude 2100 with Linux!!!

I have a Latitude 2100 base configuration.I have used Ubuntu Remix and all the devices are quite compatibles. Using compiz in a lite way is also compatible.

Good for Dell and Good for Ubuntu a Debian based distro.
