While not tested, the modem should work with either the slmodem or Linuxant module.
For the graphics chip you can use both the open source radeon module and ATI's proprietary fglrx module. For installation instructions, you can view our Configuring an ATI graphics chip guide. For 3D support, you will need the proprietary module.
This laptop works very well with Linux, it should work with most Linux distributions.

running zorin os 6.1 on my nc6230. everything worked right out of the box. card reader works great. I do have to use gnome alsamixer to turn off laptop speakers when headphones plugged in, otherwise both play at same time.
