This notebook supports both the open source radeon module and the proprietary ATI module. The proprietary module would probably give you the best 3D performance.
The modem works with the slmodem module. Thanks goes to Joseph for this information.
No problems at all with this laptop, one of the best to use with Linux.
Discussion
I love my nx8220 except that I cannot get it to reliably suspend & resume! :( Anyone with suggestions on the ideal kernel and video driver to use to resolve this issue, please go to the Gentoo Wiki (http://en.gentoo-wiki.com/wiki/Main_Page) and post your thoughts. Thanks!
ACPI does not work properly!
I have installed the latest ubuntu version (and latest BIOS version). I cannot use the dynamic mode because it leads to massive overheating problems, due to buggy acpi. So I have a 2GHz processor running permanently at 50%.
Everything works fine except the WiFi
Well, that's pretty much it. Even with the latest ipw2200 modules for wireless network, it still chokes on Ad-Hoc connection here. Other than that, things are working great with Debian Linux.
