i installed fedora 13 in my compac cq40. but a pakage kernel crash warning is showing & Wifi can'nt be connected ………please help me!!!!1

I haven't tried Linux in my compaq and my teacher is asking me to istall it. Hope I'll fix it with no errors. Cross fingers.

iam balu i havebeen installed xp2 in compaq 40-108tuall drivers is ok except modem driver. how i can solve this problem. the error is device not found.please any knows send solution fro my email account.

I have cq40 compaq-hp, there was problem in installing linux, but i search some thing new For MINT LINUX Which help me lot . all hardware works fine.
I created a new software like Bulk Email Services (Software), Document Management System, Erp Solution.

The card reader in my compaq presario cq40 tu641 is not working in ubuntu linux installed there plus the computer's hibernation function is not working. The battery also keeps discharging even when the computer is shut down.

I have installed open suse 11.2 on my cq 40-108TU.I have two problems -

1.it can not detect wi fi.

2.I tried virtualization but it says “processors does not support virtualization”. I tried to see the bios options (as i saw it in a forum) but there was nothing regarding virtualisation.

when i tried to install the redhat linux 4 in my laptop then display the error “No driver found” from cdrom laptop specification: Dual core,320GB,2 GB Ram,Plz help me

It works perfectly. I couldn't imagine using Vista (which it was preinstalled with).

If you are a Windows sufferer trying to jump ship to Linux, use Mint. It will do what you want. No question about that.

I did every steps that u explain. But, I'm still having trouble of soundcard detections with my cq40-419TX.

i tried “pci=noacpi” and put a string “options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=1” in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf still can't work…

my laptop model is CQ40-506TU

This solution by mark has worked for me it solved my problem i'm sure it will solve your sound problem too plz do reply after it solves yur problem

1. copy-paste the following command into the Terminal:

gksudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

2. and add these lines to the end of the /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf file:

# Keep snd-pcsp from beeing loaded as first soundcard
options snd-pcsp index=-2
alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
alias sound-slot-0 snd-hda-intel
options snd-hda-intel model=dell-m4-1
options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=1

3. Then navigate to System>Preferences>Sound and change everything to ALSA

4. copy-paste the following command into the Terminal:

gksudo gedit /etc/group

5. replace the following line (or something very similar to it):

audio:x:29:pulse

with this line:

audio:x:29:joshua,pulse

I couldn t find sound and video drivers for ubuntu wich works in my presario cq 40-305la.
Because off that i change for win xp, i miss ubuntu, xp its a shit!. if some know how to find thats drives, pless tel me how.
