HP 8560w
Worked fine for me with Ubuntu 11.10
Had to start the live CD with F6 and the option nomodset else the loading of the cd / usb stick would hang
Most drivers are installed without problems
The HP EliteBook 8560w works well on Linux.
Discussion
I have 8560w with Nvidia Quadro 1000M, Ubuntu 11.04 64bit and Nvidia driver version is 290.10. I cannot switch between laptop display and external display. Pressing Fn F4 hangs the machine for couple of seconds. It does not toggle displays. The only way to switch displays is to run nvidia-settings and restart X.
Hi there,
I have used ubuntu only once and i want to use it again, though:
When you say ” Had to start the live CD with F6 and the option nomodeset” I assume you are referring to what most people are saying as “nouveau.nomodeset=0” ?.
How do i exactly enable/disable that ? Like where do i go and all that.
Baby steps please.
