Linux works fine overall but you need some tweaks:
Add acpi_backlight=vendor acpi_osi=Linux to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT variable in the /etc/default/grub file. Run “update-grub” after.
Modify some settings on BIOS/UEFI setup: enable Hardware Virtualization and disable “Action Keys” (to make Fn keys work as you expect usually)

Check laptop-mode-tools package is installed and is configured ENABLE_LAPTOP_MODE_TOOLS=1 in the file /etc/laptop-mode/laptop-mode.conf. If you find problems with USB devices in battery mode, try to disable CONTROL_USB_AUTOSUSPEND in the file /etc/laptop-mode/conf.d/usb-autosuspend.conf.

Also, to get Hardware decoding of H.264 and MPEG-2/4 videos (VA-API interface) for Intel GPU, install vainfo and i965-va-driver packages, and install mplayer-vaapi package, because VLC from Ubuntu seems to be an issue to use VA-API.

Tested with Ubuntu Linux 12.04 and 12.10. Gentoo Linux was tested also but I couldn't the WLAN be working.
