To fix the audio issue, add this to your alsa options (usually something like /etc/modprob.d/alsa.conf)
options snd-hda-intel model=dell-m4-2
Must turn off the power saving feature in the bios to get the Card Reader to work.
The HP Pavilion dv7-3079wm works just fine with Linux with the above tweak for the sound.
