Nothing of interest to note about the Thinkpad R60 during Linux installation.
You may have some issues selecting certain resolutions on an external monitor. If this is the case for you then you will need to update your version of Xorg.
There were no problems in getting the IBM-Lenovo Thinkpad R60 working when used with an up to date Linux distribution.
Discussion
how to enable bluetooth of lenovo R60.plz send me step's how to “NO” it.
Linux Mint 13 KDE with Cairo-Dock. Upgraded to 2gb dram and 200gb hd. Third party (non-IBM/Lenovo) hard disks are not compatible with the bios and will fail the self test. Work around is to press the thinkvantage button when the thinkpad logo splash screen appears and then the esc key when it disappears. This bypasses the bios self test and goes direct to the bootstrap. I'm getting 2hrs plus time off the used battery that came with the computer, a new battery should do much better. I've used previous versions of Linux Mint (9-12) Gnome, XFCE, LXDE, and also Mint Debian. They all work. Pure Debian works too but you have to install with an ethernet connection to the web because the required wifi drivers are NOT on the Debian CD. Mint and Ubuntu include them on the live CD/DVD's. Great Linux laptop, but is 32bit only and can use only up to 3GB of dram due to chipset limitations. Internal speakers are poor for music, but ok for youtube or skype (no internal webcam).

I have installed Open SUSE11. Let me know how to get the thinkpad modem rpm and configure dial up connection..
Fedora 9 installed, perfectly good! But nothing is right with the modem though it works while in windows.I have not found any other problems.
I have installed Ubuntu 8.10 on Think pad R60 which was having windows XP installation ans partitioned to get drive letters up to H. All the data in H: was copied to other windos drives, and using Ubuntu CD was inserted at start up. Using manual partioning, Ubuntu installation in the empty space H: went without any hitch. wireless, network was no problem. Graphics quality is probably an issue. i feel its not as good as windows. Also the graphics adapter driver are not full functional with color control. probably, needs to be added from IBM / Lenevo site.

Ubuntu 8.10 on R60
Installation away without a hitch. Save for the bluetooth module and dial-up modem, all hardware tested without a problem.
