Notes

For the wireless controller you will need to use the ndiswrapper module. For installation instructions, you can view our Configuring the ndiswrapper module guide. The Windows drivers can be downloaded from here.

Some models of this notebook use the Intel 2915 wireless controller. This is supported by the ipw2200 module.

Summary

Apart from the wireless controller this laptop is easy to use with Linux. While you can get the wireless controller to work, dealing with ndiswrapper may be confusing for inexperienced users.

Loaded Mint 12 with no problems.

I did have some issues getting the Wifi to work (probably the ndis issue in the notes - it was a while ago)

I did notice that the laptop would not go in to standby / hibernate when the lid was closed, and never did get that bit sorted.

Firewire and SD/MMC card reader work fine in Ubuntu 8.10. My Lenovo 3000 C100 came with DVD+RW, 80GB HD.
