Discussion
Yep, unfortunatelly I have to confirm. My U300s also has this bizarre keyboard bug (ALT Linux, 3.4.19-un-def-alt0.M60P.1).
xmodmap helps until we get two keys sending same (wrong) scancode.
Be careful with this laptop and Ubuntu, see:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/974455
1. suspend/resumes works from 3.4.14 afair, and surely works on 3.4.17
2. touchpad works from the start afair but have some particularities. right click = tap at the low right conner, middle click = two fingers tap.
Everything works, with two exceptions:
1) suspend/resume is broken, but there is a patch that fixes this that will probably make it upstream real soon now.
2) touchpad is a mess. Only recognized as generic PS/2 mouse. Pretty much makes the laptop unusable.
Tested with Ubuntu 12.04 and Fedora 17.
