Discussion
hey i also have lenovo z560 laptop. i want to install fedora 15 desktop. does it support??
and where can i find drivers for that??
Hello! Yes, all works perfectly. But you must install drivers by yourself, i.e. you can't use neither akmod nor kmod drivers from repository.
You can read about how to install drivers there http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=259861
What about Centos 5.6 support? Is it working?
Can someone strait up conmfirm they have nVidia graphics WORKING on this laptop under Linux? The ideapad z360 page suggests not and from what I can see, it doesnt work there due to Optimus, but no problems here.
NVidia graphics works perfectly for this laptop under Linux.
- I'm using Fedora 14, your mileage may vary
- I installed the binary drivers direct from NVidia
- The installer now offers to blacklist nouveau… yay!
- I had to add vmalloc=256M to my kernel params
Thank you SOOOOOOOOO much, I've been looking EVRYWHERE for info on this, it's ounger sibling (the Z360) seems to not work under Linux and you must use the intel graphics due to optimus.
I would classify myself as a fairly advanced linux user so I don't care what I have to do to get it working, as long as it works. I use Arch Linux btw.
Once again, thanks a lot! I ordered one so it should arrive sometime in the next few weeks, I was really worried I would be stuck with intel graphics.
did the nvidia really turn out to be working on this?
Jay Guerette whould you be so kind to tell in detail about how to stop nouveau.
Hi,
I have a lenovo ideapad z560, I am running linux(ubuntu 9-10) using vmware.I am unable to detect my inbuilt webcam in the system. How do I solve this issue .
I have a lenovo ideapad Z560. Everything works out of the box except the headphone and mic jacks. Power management is horrible. I've considered compiling a custom kernel to solve this issue.
This fixed my problem :
