I would like to add, that brightness keys does not work out-of-box but you can control the screen brightness by installing ATI Catalyst from the manufacturers website.

My version is Mint 17.1.

Brightness works well with Ubuntu 14.10, but it has shorter support than Linux Mint 17.1 version. Thats why my choice was Linux Mint.

I use Linux Mint 17 Cinnamon, and IBM Thinkpad E145 works very well. Only thing I had to do was the configuration of wireless network. There was a need to download the broadcom driver for wireless network. But it was easy and took less than minute.

According to my experience, Lenovo E145 is perfect notebook for Linux Mint.
