Which window manager / bitness iso were you using? I have had nothing but trouble getting my ge60 setup.
Been using Linux Mint 14 on this machine as my primary OS. Everything works well without any major issues. Bumblebee must be installed to switch between the integrated and dedicated GPUs. The hardware eject, screen off, and P1 buttons are software based so I haven't found a way to use them in Linux. Wireless on/off switch and turbo fan button work. Sound settings identifies the laptop's 4 speakers as 4 channel, which is pretty neat, though I'm not sure if practical.
