I forgot to mention n what didn't work.

So far the things that don't work are:

Web Camera

Multimedia keys that are MSI functions

The LED lights will stay red

The fan controls, as well as the Steelseries switch to turn off the LED keyboard will work.

Suspend works, If you got a swap partition

As of 2016, the best distros for this laptop has to be the latest bleeding edge os since LTS kernels will have issues with the GPU card like Debian for instance as I found out the hard way.

I haven't duel booted this laptop with Windows 8.1 since I removed it from the SSD, But I can confirm that getting a set up with the SSD and HDD is a piece of cake, If you disable intel SpeedStep. fastboot, and switch from UEFI to Legacy bios since that is how I got Arch linux to work. Your mileage may vary depending on the OS as see note above.

If you don't know how to use Arch linux then you are going to have to find a distro that at least uses a newer kernel that's at least in 4.0 or 4.1. You can use the integrated graphics from intel, But getting your Nvidia card to work may be difficult depending on your OS.

I hope this is helpful. If you have any questions, let me know.
