This laptop will not boot a UEFI Linux boot disk of any kind… I have tried and tried, and yes, I disabled secure boot. I have bee watching other threads elsehwere and have seen people trying to do what I was trying to do. I have a thread here http://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=165756.0 and there is another here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=154938.

I have been hoping and praying for a BIOS update that will fix this… but I don't think its going to happen… I really regret buying this thing now…

Have you tried creating a Live USB stick using http://www.linuxliveusb.com with your distribution? I don't have this laptop but I had another one with the same issue and was able to boot from USB.

Yes, I have Bill. I didn't care what the media was, it simply went black after the grub screen :-(

I really think a bios update is needed. I hope Grant comes up with something! ;-)

Ive attempted MBR and UEFI installs of a number of different versions of Ubuntu/Backtrack /w no avail. Most likely I would forsee issues /w the video/mobo compatability.

I recently unlocked my bios on the MSI forum by dontating to an individual, and will do more testing to find compatability/support.
