Notes

You can enter any specific notes with running Linux on the MSI GT70 2PC here.

Tested with Ubuntu 13.10 (then migrated to 14.04) on a model supplied without Windows.
Had to disable UEFI mode and Fast Boot in BIOS for installation (doesn't seems to slow the boot speed).

Summary

You can enter a summary of how well the MSI GT70 2PC works with Linux here.

Everything runs out of the box with Ubuntu 13.10 excepts really minor things like two LEDs (WiFi and Bluetooth) and some special buttons (“media player”, “flight mode”, “siwth off screen”, and “G-Panel”).

Additionnally, to use properly the GTX 870M, I installed the recent nVidia 337.12 beta drivers through the xedgers ppa repository (works with Ubuntu 14.04 but not with 13.10 for now, 2014-04-12).

Severe screen tearing, makes watching a video or playing a game a painfull experience…

Led backlight works with https://github.com/wearefractal/msi-keyboard on nodejs.

With cron i' managed to lightup on certain hours :)

Everithing else works fine running lubuntu 14.04 KDE. Only fan and keyboard backlight tactile button works. Touchpad button works.

Only suspends doesn't works i have to do:

pm-suspend –quirk-save-pci.

Hdmi works with nvidia driver (still buggy), webcam works out of the box, card reader works also, microphone works
