It comes pre-installed with Microsoft Windows 7, and it takes about 1,5 hour before you can use it (install and backup process).
After the installation I resized the Windows partition and booted Kubuntu 10.04 (Lucid Lynx) from USB and installed it.
The time it takes to boot Windows 7 including login is about 105 seconds, for Kubuntu it's about 25 seconds.
Everything works out of the box, wireless, screen resolution is good, sound works, mousepad works, webcam works, modem works after installing modemmanager.
The only thing is that not all FN-keys work. FN-F2 doesn't work, FN-brightness up and does do not work, all other keys work with the latest Kubuntu Maverick beta.
The netbook resumes very fast after suspend (about 1 second).
The netbook is also very quiet, you don't hear the fan blowing.
I can surely recommend this N150 as a Linux netbook.
Below you will find the output of “sudo lshw” which has all the hardware info:

Discussion
hi this is shakeel i brought samsun
Headline
Bold Texdfgggggggggggg
Strike-through TexttIt's undeniable the Next Big Thing is tablets. I love new tech and I kind of want an Android Honeycomb tab, but they are still waaaay over priced. I considered getting an iPad as Android tabs are still only just coming of age, but in the end I could not really justify double the cost of a netbook just for an alternate form factor and interface … in my head I weighed up the following benefits of a netbook
www.cheapestusedcomputer.com
I have a Samsung N150 laptop, I run Fedora 14 in it… but the problem is that I cant find the Linux driver for the Laptop. Where can I find that…???
Just bought this netbook, not delivered yet but the arch wiki has information on enabling the Fn keys.
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Samsung_N150
Just bought it.
running Xubuntu 10.10 on it.
Everything is perfect.
All hardware works instantly.
Cold start with Xubuntu:
Memory - 13%-16%;
Processor - 11%;
Good battery very low noise level.
Warcraft TFT runs on OPEN GL mode
I recommend it.
btw with default win7 starter very low performance.
I bought the Best Buy version of the N150 and installed Linux straight away (Win7 has never been booted). I'm old-fashioned and stayed with Ubuntu NBR 9.10 (Karmic).
1. As noted above, many Fn-keys don't work, but there are workarounds, so it's not a big deal. There is a “setpci” command sequence that can be used to adjust the brightness. Install “rfkill” to turn off wireless power. Otherwise, suspend, works. External VGA display works. Wireless works (Atheros AR9285). Sound controls work.
2. The Elantech touchpad drove me nuts - I hate touch-to-tap and multi-touch junk, and the Elantech was particularly ill-behaved. Touch it with 2 fingers and the cursor jumps immediately to one corner. Ended up hacking and recompiling the elantech.c driver to turn all that stuff. This link http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=9175201 gets you started; I hacked some more to make it ignore 2 or more finger touches.
3. I tried several things to get the internal microphone to work (install pavucontrol; play with configuration settings). Eventually it worked.
4. Excellent keyboard. Key action is stiff (which I like) and the keys are well-separated. Very quiet. Decent battery life (5-6 hours in real-life use). Mediocre front-mounted slider switch for power (not a deal-breaker).
If it weren't for the annoyances with touchpad, I would say that this is a great Linux netbook. It now works great for me; YMMV.
Thank you for your review. I bought this netbook after reading your feedback. So far I have only run Ubuntu 10.4 from a USB stick, but everything seems to work, including wifi. Battery life of this netbook is pretty good.
If core_id in /proc/cpuinfo is the same value, as is shown in the example above, than it's the same core, hence hyperthreading.
Which pendrive do you use?
I will try Ubuntu 10.04 LTS netbook boot with CF card on USB 2.0 reader and same Samsung cannot start with that drive. Any special bios setup needed or maybe that flash drive is not compatibile?
Any help needed!
greatings
Sorry my english. I cant made my flash drive bootable in BIOS. Flash drive with Ubuntu netbook 10.04 is Adata 2gb. Can any how set BIOS settings? Thank you for ansver.
Not sure what you mean, but if you press the Escape button a few times right after powering on the laptop, you can change your BIOS settings.
I just plugin a USB stick and power up and it boots from it.
The faxmodem is needed if you want get contact to companies such a google inc.

Wikipedia say that Intel Pineview D510 Atom CPU is dual-core and that the N450 is single core.
I've tried to run the latest daily build image (19Apr10) of Ubuntu (Lucid 64bit) which is already frozen and ready for release next week. The System Monitor CPU History chart shows two CPUs running on the Samsung N150!!!
Is this correct?
/proc/cpuinfo reports 2 cpu's
regards,
Harry
Hyper-Threading…
So, is there a way to find out (running Linux) if we have 2 core's or if it's hyperthreading ?
regards,
Harry
