On R940-1FH, installed Fedora 18 (beta) 3.6.11-3.fc18.x86_64 from desktop ISO made into bootable USB with Unetbootin, then updated everything to 2012/12/23. Installed Cinnamon and other s/w like LibreOffice, TeXStudio, Inkscape, VLC. Install was to logical partitions within the space freed by reducing the main win partition.

Most works out of the box.
Fn+volume controls always work (with OSD), Fn+WiFi never works, touchpad can't be switched off (not with Fn+F9, not with dedicated key).
Fn+suspend to RAM and brightness work as booted, but after a suspend they stop working and another susp to RAM will block the system completely.
Overall very good compatibility, suspend is a problem as of 20121223, maybe due to using BETA of Fedora 18.
